Douglas College continues it’s winning ways

The Douglas College Royals continued their fantastic start to the season by putting in a strong effort to win at Capilano University. Despite being short one player the team worked very hard and stuck together to win the team competition with a perfect 5-0 record. The Royals were led by newly named team captain Charmagne Yeung and rookie Logan Campbell who won all 5 of their team matches. Amy Leung and Lisa Chen also went undefeated in team competition by winning all 4 of their matches. With the team event wrapped up the Royals looked for success in the individual competition. Once again, the team was led by outstanding performances by Charmagne and Logan who won two titles each and finished the weekend with a perfect 13-0 record. Charmagne upset #1 Veronica Yeung from Capilano to win an intense Women’s Singles final and then teamed up with Logan to win the Mixed Doubles event for the second consecutive tournament. Logan then went on to win the Men’s Doubles event with partner Luo Wei. The pair had also won the Men’s Doubles event earlier in the season. “Logan and Char were absolutely fantastic for us all weekend” commented head coach, Al Mawani. “The team performance was brilliant with all the challenges we have had to face this season” added Mawani. In all the Royals won three of the five individual events to go with the team title. The Royals now break for the holidays and will host the next competition in January.
