Darren Hong and Lynn Huang have both been listed as the BCAA players of the week.
Darren Hong
The BCCAA 2010-11 badminton season got off to a fantastic start for the Douglas Royals. Darren Hong has been named as team co-captain this season. Hong leads by example as was shown this past weekend at Capilano University. He played a big part in Douglas College’s unbeaten result in the team round robin competition. On Saturday Hong came out very strong and with his partners Wei Luo (Men’s Doubles) & Stephanie Ko (Mixed Doubles) went undefeated in both events. Hong was able to play the maximum number of matches this past weekend and finished with a 12-1 record overall. Hong has made a strong commitment to improve his strength & conditioning and the results showed this past weekend.
Lynn Huang
Huang is in her 3rd year at Douglas College continued to dominate the Women’s Singles event as was shown this past weekend at Capilano University. She also contributed in leading Douglas College to an unbeaten record the team round robin competition by winning all 5 of her matches. On Saturday there was no let up from her as she clinically went about her business and won the Women’s Singles event – her 9th BCCAA singles win in a row – and with her partner Melody Liang, won the Women’s Doubles event without losing a game. Huang played the maximum number of matches this past weekend and finished with a perfect 13-0 record overall. Huang is making a strong effort to improve her overall game as she recovers from a couple of injuries this past summer.
